Save Bradford's SEND Specialist Teaching Support Teams

Save Bradford's SEND Specialist Teaching Support Teams
The Issue
The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council are proposing to cut £13.3 million from Children's Services. This includes various teams who support children and families. There is a proposal to reduce SEND Specialist Teaching Support Teams;
- The Portage Team sits within this area - the Portage Team provide home visits to support families in making play and learning fun and signpost families to valuable support services/agencies. The team currently have 7.5 full time equivalent posts plus one casual post. However, the proposal is to reduce the team to 4 full time equivalent posts.
- The Specialist Support Teachers will also be affected. These Teacher's specialise in various areas of SEND and support children and their families in the home and in settings.
These teams are vital to children with SEND and their families. We ask the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council to not reduce these teams and to look at other areas, where the children of Bradford will not be affected.
