The Issue

For over 20 years, 'River City' has been a cornerstone of our shared Scottish cultural experience, creating a collaboration of love, drama, and storytelling that has brilliantly depicted our Scotland. Yet, we are shocked and deeply saddened by BBC's recent decision to discontinue this outstanding show. This decision doesn't align with the love and appreciation millions of Scottish viewers have for this drama. 'River City' is not just any program; it's one of the most notable dramas the BBC has ever gifted us with.

Illustrating the life, relationships, narrating stories of hope and resilience; 'River City' has always encapsulated a true image of our Scottish lifestyle and experiences. In addition, it provided many actors with the platform to showcase their talent and brought joy to numerous homes that looked forward to their weekly dose of intriguing plots and relatable characters.

As ardent viewers and license fee payers, we are calling on BBC to not only save our beloved 'River City', but also extend its broadcasting times to two full 1-hour episodes per week. This change would serve to increase its reach, further highlight Scottish talent, and deliver double the content for those of us who can't get enough of the drama.

Save 'River City', revive our shared stories, and let us continue to enjoy a collective narrative of drama that keeps us united. Sign this petition to urge BBC to return 'River City' to our screens with enhanced broadcast times.
