Islington Council is proposing to build a Gypsy and Traveller site in Aubert Park, replacing a much-loved green space used by local residents.

Islington already has the second-lowest amount of green space of any London borough - only the City of London has less. Now, one of our valued green spaces is under threat.

We support the need to provide suitable accommodation for Gypsy and Traveller families, but this should not come at the cost of one of Islington's scarce parks. Once this space is gone, it is gone.

We urge Islington Council to find a more suitable alternative site that meets the needs of Gypsy and Traveller families while protecting the green spaces that are so vital to everyone's health, wellbeing and quality of life.
