The Issue

How it began

Amp came online in March 2022 as a way for people to do what they love or ever wished and/or dreamed of doing: hosting and curating unique shows that highlight diverse backgrounds with regards to music. From rock to Latin to jazz to old-school to old-school remixed and beyond, this platform has been a joy for many people, including myself, to showcase not only their radio chops, but their tastes in music and the stories behind the songs in their personal and/or professional lives. With many creators coming from terrestrial radio and/or television, AMP gave them the perfect opportunity to continue what they love to do without any corporate, er, stuff. :) As many people, especially females, told me that I have a voice for radio, this was a great opportunity for me to come on board as the app launched but had to wait for the source code. Once I got the source code I started October 2022 and really didn’t hit my stride until December. I now have six shows that range from helping out jobseekers to teaching life lessons to culinary arts to being an entrepreneur.

How the shut down will affect the entire AMP community

The app shut down will not only affect those who love to create, but those who are shut ins, suffering from one or more medical conditions (especially our vision impaired/blind users) and the amp employees themselves. With the effects of COVID-19 still going around as well as an unstable economy this is not the time to take a great thing and put it out to pasture. I’m confident that a meeting with Steve via ZOOM I can show him different ways of still having the platform up and running.
