The Issue

Air Canada has announced that it will suspend all service to North Bay, Ontario, effective January 30, 2026. This decision will isolate our community, weaken regional economic opportunities, and jeopardize access to essential services for residents and businesses across Northern Ontario.

For nearly 90 years, North Bay has been connected to the national air network through Jack Garland Airport. Air Canada’s decision to withdraw service threatens to sever a vital transportation link that supports medical travel, education, tourism, business development, and regional investment.

We urge Air Canada to work with local leaders, the federal and provincial governments, and community stakeholders to explore alternative solutions. These may include revised schedules, the use of smaller aircraft, financial support through regional air service programs, or public-private partnerships to ensure air service continues.

North Bay and its surrounding communities deserve reliable, affordable, and consistent air access — not abandonment. Let’s keep North Bay connected.

We call on Air Canada and all levels of government to:

Reverse the 2026 suspension of service
Commit to community consultation and transparency
Develop a transition plan that protects access and jobs
Recognize regional equity for Northern Ontario

Sign this petition to tell Air Canada and our leaders: North Bay deserves better. Keep us flying.
