The Issue

Ahmed Al-Kahlout wasn’t just the Director of Civil Defense workers; he was the reason his people survived.

While the world watched the rubble fall, Ahmed was on the ground. He extinguished fires that threatened families. He retrieved and honored martyrs with dignity. He treated the wounded when no one else could. When vehicles broke down, risking the delivery of life-saving aid, Ahmed manufactured diesel fuel to keep them running. He worked to protect aid during invasions so that it could reach the people ensuring they wouldn't die of hunger.
On December 27, 2024, Israeli forces captured Ahmed from Kamal Adwan Hospital—the same day they abducted Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. Both were taken during their service. While Dr. Abu Safiya’s name has become a global symbol of resistance against medicide, Ahmed’s story is unknown.

But we refuse to let them erase him.

Every Palestinian detainee held without charge deserves freedom. Every humanitarian worker who risked their life to save strangers deserves protection, not imprisonment. Humanitarian work is NOT a crime.

We are calling on the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the international community to act now. We demand:
1. Immediate disclosure of Ahmed’s whereabouts and condition.
2. Urgent diplomatic pressure on Israeli authorities to secure his release.
3. Full accountability for the detention of all civilian humanitarian workers.
This petition seeks to awaken the conscience of the international community and to demand action from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to secure Ahmed's immediate release and ensure his safety. We urge the ICRC, with its global influence and humanitarian mission, to leverage its resources and diplomatic channels to press for Ahmed's freedom.

Signing this petition is not just a gesture, it is a demand that the world remember Ahmed’s name and act on his behalf. Don’t let his sacrifice be met with silence.  Sign now to ensure his story doesn’t end in obscurity, but in justice.
