**** Thanks so much for all the support we are getting, we are blown away!!!! Just want to make it clear that any money you chip in through Change.org does not go to ABK, it does help promote this petition though which gets us some extra signatures. If you want to donate directly to ABK you can head to our webshop https://adelaidebikekitchenshop.square.site/ or use PayID: adelaidebikekitchen@gmail.com <3 ****
Adelaide Bike Kitchen (ABK) is an independent, volunteer-run community bike collective. We teach people how to fix their own bikes in a supportive, affordable and fun way. Each year ABK holds 125 public workshops run by 49 volunteers, fixing around 3750 bikes, keeping people riding and saving bikes from becoming trash. ABK also represents an essential “third space” for the community.
After 12+ excellent years ABK has to move out of our Bowden workshop by Jan 31st 2026. The beautiful ABK workshop has been generously provided to ABK for all these years by Renewal SA and without their support we would not have blossomed into the thriving community we are today.
The only way grass roots community organisations can provide their important services is through secure access to affordable spaces. The ABK Committee has been working hard to try and secure a new location for ABK in 2026 but so far we do not have a new workshop to call home.
We have been reaching out to state and local government representatives and staff for help in our search, and through community action recently received a promise of support from Premier Peter Malinauskas to ensure ABK finds a new home.
Now we are asking our community to raise your voices to hold the Premier to his promise and ensure ABK can continue doing our important work.
We the undersigned ask the State Government and/or Local Government to support us to find a suitable, permanent workshop location for ABK to continue providing our much-needed community resources, services and connection space.
