With Birmingham City Council making cuts across public services it has been reported that Acocks Green Library is under threat of closure.

All libraries provide an essential service and must be protected. Acocks Green Library is at the heart of our community and must stay open. 

This petition urges Birmingham City Council to safeguard the library for future generations and ensure access to life long learning for everyone. This includes protecting the asset of the building, which is our inheritance. 

The library is a safe space where we can all take sanctuary and learn, it must stay where it is, in the heart of our community. It provides the chance for young and old, people from all backgrounds and ethnicities to congregate. It allows community groups to meet and facilitates access to the internet. 

Free and open access to education must be kept local where everyone, irrespective of means, can access it.

The library has served the community for 92 years, let's keep it that way.
