The residents had been invited to a meeting by the new City Manager, recipient of this petition, and unfortunately, instead of letting the residents plead their case first, the same questionable players from certain City Departments presented their ‘improvement’ plans, which included what we feared the most: destroying the soul of our little lane. Tearing down a historic wall to widen the path, and paving over paradise. At least the paving part could be negotiated to look at different options, but the general consensus is clear…and it is simply ignoring the People's will. The City does not care to hear the full story or take responsibility for what some players are doing behind closed doors. While we will continue to fight, tonight certainly feels like we have lost our little piece of Paradise and our Voice. More construction, trucks and dust coming our way, to alter our island home forever, for the benefit of the Rich and Powerful.
