Hi I'm Nicola Howarth. So I'm setting up this petition in memory of my brother Jamie Howarth who sadly lost his life in a motorbike accident. On the 22nd of August 2023. My younger brother was travelling from work from Macdonalds Bath Spa Hotel Bath where he worked for 9 years. Jamie was travelling to his home address in Wiltshire. Jamie had to travel through Dilton Marsh. As Jamie was travelling through Dilton Marsh where he sadly lost his life. Jamie was slowly driving along the road at peak time 5pm Jamie knowing the roads well he reached a blind spot to be meeted with a bnw, and tractor which had stopped to let a combine harvest past. Jamie on arrival of the blind spot was unaware of these vehicles he was approaching. Jamie then clipped the BMW and was throw off his bike onto the opposite side where the combine harvest was approaching. Myself, family and local farmers of the area believe this accident could definitely had been avoided. This has not been the first accident on this road but many many others. There are so many changes that can be made improved to prevent this. For example bushes cut back or removed with a fence to help visibility, blind spot mirrors to be able to see on coming traffic, grass verges pulling back to make the roads wider so the larger vehicles can carry through especially this road in particular as its a farmers area and still need to carry on with their daily working day. Also warning lights or signs. I also believe that the speed level should be reduced especially on that bend in question. As myself visiting the crash scene could have potentially been hit by vehicles travelling at fast speed slamming breaks to avoid hitting us as we laid flowers for my brother.
