Save 60 Minutes: Don't Let Politics Destroy a Trusted American Institution
The Issue
60 Minutes has been a pillar of American journalism for over half a century. It’s where we turn for fearless investigations, honest questions, and stories that matter, no matter who’s in power.
But now, that independence is under threat.
Executive producer Bill Owens, who dedicated 37 years to CBS News, just stepped down. Not because he wanted to, but because higher-ups made it impossible for him to keep leading the show with integrity. He warned us clearly: decisions were no longer being made in the best interest of 60 Minutes or its viewers.
That’s not just troubling, it’s unacceptable.
We call on the executives at CBS and Paramount to preserve the editorial independence of 60 Minutes. Do not allow political pressure, lawsuits, or corporate deals to reshape one of the last great institutions of trustworthy journalism.
60 Minutes has never belonged to one party or one perspective. It belongs to the people, and the people are watching.
Protect the show. Protect its mission. And don’t let its legacy be sold off or silenced.
