Dear supporters,
Please read the following, we need your help more than ever:

On January 26 at 5:30pm, at the Board of Commissioners Meeting, the politicians will vote for denial or approval of the rezoning to high-density R60. In other words, they will make their decision if our forest will live or die.

We have prepared a statement of opposition and will need all possible in-person support from you. HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP:

1) PLEASE ATTEND THIS MEETING on Jan 26 at 5:30pm at the Manuel J. Maloof Center, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30030.
(Please come early, our case is the very first item on the agenda. Please wear an olive-green or nature-green T-shirt or sweater.)

2) Please send a short letter of opposition to all 7 Dekalb commissioners before Thursday, here is a draft:

To:
srbradshaw@dekalbcountyga.gov , LCJohnson@dekalbcountyga.gov, rjpatrick@dekalbcountyga.gov , mlspears@dekalbcountyga.gov , larryjohnson@dekalbcountyga.gov , mdjohnson@dekalbcountyga.gov ,Ted@Dekalbcountyga.gov

Subject: opposition to Z-22-1245331

DeKalb Board of Commissioners

Steve Bradshaw, Commissioner District 4
Lorraine Cochran-Johnson, Commissioner Super District 7
Robert Patrick, Commissioner District 1
Michelle Long Spears, Commissioner District 2
Larry Johnson, Commissioner District 3
Mereda Davis Johnson, Commissioner District 5
Ted Terry, Commissioner Super District 6

My name is…, I am a resident of …  I would like to express my opposition to the Z-22-1245331 Rockbridge Road Development and ask you to deny the request for rezoning to R60. The proposed rezoning from R-100 to R-60 is radically inconsistent with the neighboring Hickory Hills, Kenilworth Estates, and the neighborhoods south of Rockbridge Road.

Hereby, I strongly object to the proposed development due to the inevitable catastrophic environmental damage:

It would allow a developer to clearcut 40 acres of old growth hardwood forest, destroying one of the few remaining green spaces in central DeKalb.
It would lead to drastically increased stormwater runoff and flooding.
It would lead to water pollution of the 18-acre Kenilworth Lake, Shepard Lake and Barbashela Creek, from stormwater, mud, car oils, and chemicals.
It would lead to increased air pollution from the increased traffic and the loss of trees to filter it, etc.

We have a unique opportunity. Please deny the rezoning. I trust in your support.

Thank you.
