Save 17 Acres for the Timonium Community Stewardship Park!

Save 17 Acres for the Timonium Community Stewardship Park!

The Issue

We have a rare and exciting opportunity to create a community park in the heart of Lutherville Timonium! Right in between Greenspring Avenue and Broadway Road is a privately owned, 17-acre parcel of land available for purchase.

Instead of allowing this land to be developed or lost, we propose that our community and county come together to preserve it as a public park for generations to come. This would not be just any park. Our vision is a Community Stewardship Park that reflects our shared values and would feature:

🌱 Native Gardens & Tree Plantings - Restoring native plants and trees to support pollinators, birds, and wildlife while improving air quality and stormwater management

🐝 Community Apiaries - Safe, well-managed beehives to strengthen pollinator populations and support healthy ecosystems

🥕 Communal Garden Spaces - Raised beds and garden plots where families, seniors, and youth can grow food together

🚶 Walking Paths & Green Space - A peaceful place to exercise, gather, and connect with neighbors in nature

Why This Matters: Currently, Timonium lacks a park that provides these types of spaces. This project would:
- Protect open space from future development
- Boost neighborhood property values
- Provide hands-on learning for children and families
- Strengthen health and well-being
- Preserve the natural environment for generations

How we’ll make it possible: This property costs approximately $3 million. We aim to secure funding through a combination of:
- State and county grants (e.g., Maryland’s Program Open Space, the Land & Water Conservation Fund)
- Partnerships with nonprofits and land trusts
- Community donations and charitable contributions

This is not just about land—it’s about our values. By coming together, we can create a living legacy in Timonium: a place where nature, health, and community thrive side by side.

We are asking you to show your support for this proposal by adding your name below. These signatures will demonstrate to Baltimore County and our elected officials that this park is not just wanted, but needed. Together, we can protect this land and transform it into something beautiful and lasting for all of us.
