Say No to the Re-Zone

Say No to the Re-Zone
The Issue
So they have a meeting on august 16th where the planner will give information to council. I have been told there is no more public opportunities to speak for this. A lot of people did not get the chance to voice their opinion. They have told me that emails to them all get read and put with the application. For now the best thing we can do is email council and get voices heard. Even if you have already emailed it would be a good idea to send more to them

******So just an update on whats new, they have changed the application from R3 residential to a R1-x which means no more condos or apartments. I guess its a bit of a win but I would still rather see this left as green space or designated as wetlands. I have learned a bunch since starting this petition and I want it to continue, Thank you for all of the support and I still want to continue to fight as much as i can*****
Now onto the petiton
They are trying to change property that is considered wetlands and greenspace just off of the highway to a Residential First Density(R1-x) to put in 10 single unit dwellings on two parcels of land.
In that property they have an animal corridor that is very active and a wetlands area, they want to completely take over that area with roads and buildings that is better suited as a treed area for all the wildlife.
Their assessments show that they don't have many animals in the area but to the contrary there are many deer, birds, turtles, raccoons and just about every other animal that's from this region in that bush area.
The road that will connect this area will take out part of our trail that's at the end of Ottawa Ave and Copway. It will swing in behind the property there to what their addition of a road is proposed. Adding these 10 multi unit dwellings will also increase the amount of cars coming and going on the roads. They want to make the units rentals which will bring in a lot of different traffic which is not wanted for the families and children that are in our neighborhoods
This area was always listed as a Wetlands area, they did their assessments in the dry months of July and August and after reviewing them it seems they were not very accurate.
This area is definitely a wetlands area with many animals, in the winter the animals are still here
Living in this area for the last 3 years and going down Copway trail I see many deer in this area and their assessment says there are none, they say they don't have many turtles in this area and we have them always in our yard that backs onto this wet area. We have many snakes that slither through our gardens and back into the bush. These assessments seems like they are just for the purpose of allowing them to change and not for the best interest of all the people and animals involved.
This petition is to get the notice out there and not to allow this Re-Zone change. This area is a wetland area and should not be built on.
There will be a zoom meeting put on by the municipality about this rezone on June 21 2021 at 6:30 pm. https://www.saugeenshores.ca/en/index.aspx
comments can be sent to BCPLPE@brucecounty.on.ca or to (226)909-5515 at any time before the meeting and on the day comments can be sent to jay.pausner@saugeenshores.ca
We need to voice our comments before or during since we cant appeal any decisions that will be made.
Information about this application can be found at https://brucecounty.on.ca/living/land-use/saugeen-shores and the application is Sabbagh Z-2021-001
This re-zone also has 3 multi unit dwellings that will be going on the back of houses near the start of Ottawa ave, On that side there seems to be more room compared to on the North side but I'm sure there would be issues in that area also. This whole bush area is filled with wildlife. From the edge of my property to the Bruce road 13 there is 50 meters of swampy bush area which is better left for animals and for green space. There is many wetlands in that area and it should be left that way.
Previous maps have showed the area that's asking to be rezoned as environmental protected, i have tried to find those maps but cannot find them online, Even the MLS ad that was posted before this was bought showed that the environmental area went down as far as 100 Ottawa ave. We need to keep this from being rezoned and stop multi unit dwellings from being built in the very small amount of green space we still have
