In this modern era with progressive and rational thinking, some institutions continue with old traditions of restricting girls beyond a certain time. It is really surprising that, SASTRA University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India, despite being one of the top deemed universities of the state and ranked 31 in NIRF, continues this practice. Having Hostel In Times for residents is itself a debatable idea and has been shown to affect productivity of students. Many top institutions do not enforce such regulations. 
Having such a rule for safety of students is acceptable. But discrimination on the grounds of gender is completely unacceptable. Girls have to be in their hostels at 6.30 pm and Boys by 8.30 pm. Here, this petition requests the University to make the hostel in time uniform for all students at 8.30 pm.
