There have been plans announced for the clear-cutting and deforestation of 3.3 million hectares of our northern Saskatchewan boreal forest over the next 20 years. This disrupts the natural habitat of already endangered caribou, depleting numbers of songbirds and many other beautiful animals living within our forest. Despite what corporations would like you to believe clear-cutting does not mimic natural disaster and more often than not wildlife doesn't return to these areas. Perhaps an even larger concern is the integral role the boreal plays in climate change. Many environmentalists and scientists including David Suzuki agree that the boreal must be protected. With the recent tragic fires in the rainforest it is more important than ever that we STOP deforestation and clear-cutting of the Saskatchewan boreal forest.
