Hello! People In Assam we all are aware of the incident that recently took place in our state I am very terrified after the incident which led me to start this petition. The incident took place in west Karbi Anglong district of Assam which is a tourist spot. Let me explain what actually happened.

• Rumours floated on social media about the presence of child kidnappers in Dokmoka in West Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
• Abhijeet Nath and Nilotpal Das were reportedly headed for the tourist spot.
• According to sources both were in their 30s from Guwahati Assam. Have visited the tourist spot just for their love towards nature. Das was a sound engineer as well an artist whereas Nath was a business man.
• Locals suspected them to be kidnappers and pulled them out of their SUV. When the two men tried to escape, they were tied up and brutally assaulted and beaten up till death by the locals.
• In a video that surfaced online, Nilotpal Das is seen pleading with the local. He tells them he is an Assamese and begs them not to kill him. "Don't kill me...please don't beat me. I am an Assamese. Believe me, I am speaking the truth. My father's name is Gopal Chandra Das and mother's name is Radhika Das...please let me go," he is heard in the video.

This incident left me in an utter grief and terrified how can humanity be so cruel? How can you judge people just on the basis of their dress code and aperrance. Das was an artist with long hairs. According to locals male should not have such long hairs! So this provoked them believing they were kidnnapers. And thus were beaten till death without any evidence.

So here I suggest a solution so that such activities do not take place in any part of my country.

1. Superstition and rumours in our country spread very fast we must come together and make people aware that we must not blindly trust whatever we see over social media platforms those can be intentional activities.
2. Police authorities along with some educated intellectuals must take an initiative to visit those rural areas of our country and provide proper counselling to locals and promote humanity.
3. Government authorities must be aware of what happening around their village areas and should take prior interest into the matter.
4. A local leader should be made among them and should be given a responsibility to report the nearest police station if anything irrelevant is taking place.

I would make a humble request to all people to sign this petition and make sure that no more innocent Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath are killed in our country just because of rumours. Thank you!
