Many of us see the problems of limiting sunlight on to homes and we are working to see that 6 story buildings (6 stories includes the rooftop area) are not built right next to homes in Santa Cruz. This project casts shade on a row of homes and the developer is not interested in making any changes. A 3 story building could supply housing without casting shade on the nearby houses. The funding the state of California is offering to get more housing built could team with a developer in making housing available without having 6 stories. Here is the project: https://www.cityofsantacruz.com/government/city-departments/planning-and-community-development/planning-division/active-planning-applications-and-status/831-water-street

A group has been formed to help fight this project

The group has a current goal of raising $1,649 more money to work on ways to limit this project. If this project does not meet the objective standards from the City of Santa Cruz the project would go into a review. The developer is planning on applying through a streamlined approach with no input from the city council or the residents of Santa Cruz. Anything you can donate is appreciated. https://831responsibledevelopment.org/donate/

Thank you.
