Our county, Santa Cruz County, is a relatively small County in California. We've had LESS than 40 "Covid related" deaths in the last 20 months, and they've ALL been in ppl over 60 years old. There are at least 50 peer reviewed studies out that show that surgical and cloth masks do NOT help in any way to prevent transmission of viruses, including Covid. They're simply ineffective because they're TOO POROUS. Virus particles are TOO SMALL and go right through those masks, and this HAS been studied over and over and over again, and the ONLY thing masks do, is catch droplets. Which is what we do/did ANYWAYS before all of this nonsense - by covering our mouths/noses when we coughed or sneezed. It was just manners.

Gail Newel, by issuing this "mandate," and please remember - MANDATES ARE NOT LAWS; She is NOT responding to a rise in hospitalizations, nor any rise in deaths from Covid in our county. No, Ms. Newel is responding to a PETITION, from THIS very site, that gathered just 201 signatures, and in turn COERCED and PRESSURED her into issuing ANOTHER MASK MANDATE for Santa Cruz County, based on nothing to do with Covid even, just SCARED community members. It has NOTHING to do with health, & has everything to do with CONTROL. She was pressured into doing it, with no reasoning nor any real numbers to justify it, or keep it going. It also has no end date, just an arbitrary color coded system Newsom has the state STUCK UNDER.

This is a violation of Gail Newell's post. You don't issue "Health orders" because a small group of people in the community petitions you to! You ONLY do it if and when you have the DATA to support it, which she does not have, and if there's an actual dangerous pathogen going around, which THIS is not. There is NO reason to reinstitute any mask mandates here. Not at all.

Our kids should not be in masks at school all day either, and that needs to end as well. This is just a CONTROL measure at this point. It is taking us in a backwards direction, after our state has already been decimated by these entirely political restrictions ALL over the place. This is AMERICA, our rights aren't given by the government, but by God, and they are INALIENABLE.

Please sign if you OPPOSE FURTHER MASKING in Santa Cruz County, CA. We have NO NEED to be polluting the environment with them even more, they're littered everywhere, and no biohazard containers? Pandemic? We've reached endemic, and it's time to switch our focus to ACTUAL issues. RATHER than this, a common cold cousin, that has a 99.998% survival rate in ppl under 60.
