Councillor Chris Tranter, who lives in Bell End, was featured in the Express & Star article about the petition, to have the name changed.
I sent him this e-mail yesterday evening but as yet, have not had a reply.
Dear Chris,
I have seen that you were mentioned in the Express and Star, in connection with the petition to have the historic name of Bell End changed.
My Grandmother and her family have huge links to Bell End, her brother, Albert Harrold was killed in 1915 near Ypres and his widow and children lived in Bell End, running the little shop there for decades. Further back Grandma's parents and their families, Harrolds and Rustons, worshipped at the Providence Chapel. I have donated photos to the excellent museum that is now run there.
Due to no fault of my own, I was brought up in other areas and ended up here in Worcester. However I am always popping back to my family home area and hope, on Saturday, to be helping with the Churchyard cleaning at St Giles.
So I am not some bystander jumping in on a local issue. I run a Facebook Group called, I Remember Blackheath and Rowley Regis, which has over 6,000 members. We have the most wonderful archive of memories and old photos.
When a member posted a link this morning to the petition to change the name of Bell End, it went crazy, in fact we had to turn off comments, feelings were running so high.
I am at present in Wales, closing down my caravan for the season and was feeling a bit out of it. Then I thought, why not see how many people feel that the name should not be changed.
Well, I am overwhelmed! In 2 hours my petition has been signed by over 500 people. I felt I should let you know about this.
I hope this has been of interest to you.
Here is the link to the petition.

Kind regards,
Linda George.
