Hi Guys, Tuesday is election day, as you all know. Important decisions for San Ramon residents are on the ballot! Please VOTE, and let your voice be heard! Phil O'loane and Scott Perkins, our current city council members, voted for the Faria project, now tearing up our once gentle hills behind Home Depot. This blight, is a housing development of over 600 units, both homes and apartments. Beyond the additional street traffic, and over-crowding of our schools with this development, during this initial phase of flattening our hills, the construction has compromised the foundations of many homes north of Crow Canyon. Complaints by homeowners to the current city council has yielded little to no action, and they've continued their support for this ill-conceived project. Sabina Zafar and Susmita Nayak are long time San Ramon residents, now running for city council. And, like 99% of the rest of us, they see the negative effects to our community of the rapid, virtually uncontrolled growth supported by our current city council members. * Increased traffic delays * Increased burglaries and home invasions * Fifteen years ago, when we moved our family here, our schools ranked 10 across most grade levels. Many are now ranked only 9. Twin Creeks Elementary and others having slipped down to a ranking of 8*. Cal High has only a 42% College Readiness score, as campus over-crowding continues from all the new development approved by our current city leaders. Our current city council members continually support commercial and residential growth, regardless of the price to our schools, our hills and wetlands, and the cost to our once quiet community. They often blatantly disregard the will of the overwhelming majority of the residents here, and the general welfare of the community. It is time for residents of San Ramon to retire the old guard of city council members. My wife and I came to San Ramon with the promise of great schools and a quiet, safe community. When we moved here, there were [approx.] 15,000 residents. It has grown to almost 100,000 in just 15 years. We have witnessed our city council leaders supporting uncontrolled growth again and again. They've seemingly been more interested in preserving their relationship with developers, in particular, Sunset Development/Bishop Ranch, than the negative impacts this development brings to the 99% of the rest of us in San Ramon. And this is why we, and other prominent advocates who've fought for the people of our community, are urging you to vote in Sabina Zafar and Susmita Nayak as new city council members for San Ramon. For more information on each of these new candidates, please see their respective websites: http://www.sabinaforsanramon.com/ http://www.susmitanayak2016.org/ Please support responsible growth for San Ramon by casting your vote on Tuesday for Sabina Zafar and Susmita Nayak. Best, Andrew Weiss (*2016 Truila; **2016 U.S. News & World Report ranking).
