In February 2018, my children including my newborn baby girl was removed from the hospital and my father in law's home while I was in the hospital and their father was at work. The social workers Katie Egan and Catherine Ramos came into my room in the hospital and never identified themselves as being from the DCFS, I assumed they were there to offer a car seat for our newborn as I had requested some help with that from St. Bernardine Hospital because at that time the children's father had just started his new job nearly a week prior and we didn't have the means to buy one before she was born. I was smoking marijuana and was very open and direct with my previous ob/gyn from Hayward, CA and also though not an excuse had a medical marijuana recommendation that was still valid. Just two to three weeks prior we had moved from the Bay Area and we're staying temporarily with the kids' grandfather and his wife of 10 years. The social workers were very rude and overbearing and asked that I explain to them what was going on with our relationship and as I explained my story to them they immediately jumped in and out of conclusions as to how I should leave the father of my children because as they said "he would never change". I explained how we have been together since we were 15 years old and now have 6 children together, 20, 16, 14, 12, 16 months and 5 months old. I explained that we USED to engage in domestic violence in the past but they were very rare and far in between and for the last time being in 2016 when I hit him and went to jail for 90 days. We have not since then engaged in any fighting or screaming arguments and have been for the most part happily back in love as we were expecting our first child in over 12 years. Yes we weren't exactly prepared for it and had made a huge life change by picking up and moving to southern California but we wanted to do right by our children and offered them a better way of life as we were electrical contractors and owned our own company. We weren't perfect but we have been through so much together and we have an unspeakable bond with each other. They really didn't want to hear me out when I noticed that they were giggling amongst themselves I spoke up and asked Catherine Ramos is she could stop getting sarcastic with me. She immediately tried to apologize all while I sitting in the hospital just after having a cesarean crying because I'm being open and honest about my life and relationship with the father of my children. A few minutes after that they hand me a card didn't even thank me and left. I was stunned confused about what the heck just happened. They paid a visit to my father in law right after and spoke to my children who openly said yes my parents do argue but mostly about money. They decided to remove my children and place them in foster care. When their father and I got fed up with nearly 2 weeks of unanswered phone calls not knowing how our baby girl was doing we stayed at the DCFS office until after hours waiting to get a chance to hear why they removed my children. Katie Egan sat with us for nearly an hour and a half and we questioned her about why she decided to remove our children and she said and I quote "I didn't remove the children for marijuana, I removed them because I felt bad for them". Let me also mention that this girl was fresh out of college, if that, and had no children of her own. Now I ask you to please tell me where do these social workers get off??! I have NEVER abused, starved, neglected or mistreated my children as long as I have been a mother. I believe in God and that these children are His blessings to me and their father and I do not take that lightly. I understand that smoking marijuana while pregnant isn't the greatest decision I made and have not used since but I have been told by the head nurse at the hospital I was to deliver at in the Bay Area that they would have NEVER reported me to CPS or DCFS for something like that. I'm saddened to hear from just about every other person I have met so far living here in southern California that they either have or know of someone who is dealing with their kids being removed from the San Bernardino County DCFS and I for one think that they need to stick to what they are REALLY SUPPOSED to be working to do and that is protecting children that are  being ABUSED AND NEGLECTED!! Do your research on the commonality between women smoking marijuana while pregnant and the inconclusive effects that is supposedly causes especially now that marijuana is legal before trying to bash me for using. I didn't smoke like a chimney but took a small hit in the mornings to start up my appetite so that I could stomach breakfast at 6am when I could feel my baby was hungry and when I had real bad morning/afternoon sickness so I could hold my food down during the second trimester. Again I was very open and honest with my doctors and was never told or advised against it. I felt like my usage was small compared to how I normally would smoke but didn't realize that my baby was going to be positive in a drug test because marijuana takes so long to leave the bloodstream than other drugs out there. San Bernardino County DCFS should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done to my family. My kids were happy and healthy and had dreams and now they could care less about anything. My 16 year old wanted to be in the NBA and now he doesn't want anything to do with basketball. It just breaks my heart to go to these court dates and see all these little children younger than mine crying for their parents. They are literal monsters to remove these children from good, loving homes and then keep the parents from communicating with them for weeks on end. They never return phone calls and act like they're too busy to handle your case. It's insane the amount of people they have in the offices daily. I'm sure these people that actually answer the main lines are thoroughly stressed and humbled by what they hear and see each day. LET'S STOP THESE SOCIAL WORKERS FROM REMOVING CHILDREN WITHOUT A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION OF ACTUAL REPORTS OF TRUE ABUSE AND VISIBLE NEGLECT. I have been told that they're just trying to cover their behinds after an incident where children actually died because THEY FAILED. Well they'll never get to protect ANY CHILD BY REMOVING THEM BASED ON "FEELINGS" INSTEAD OF FACTS OR ACTUAL EVIDENCE. STOP SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY DCFS TIGHTEN UP ON THE REASONS TO REMOVE STOP FALSIFYING REPORTS AND PUTTING WORDS IN REPORTS THAT WERE NEVER SAID AND GET THE CHILDREN'S NAMES AND BIRTHDAYS RIGHT!!
