Samsung: Restore the "OEM Unlock" Feature in One UI 8.5/9 and Respect Device Ownership!

To Samsung Mobile Leadership and Development Teams,
As the global community of Samsung Galaxy users, developers, and tech enthusiasts, we are deeply concerned and frustrated by a critical restriction introduced during the One UI 8 update cycle. Across all updated devices, the "OEM Unlock" toggle has been completely removed or permanently hidden from Developer Options, and bootloader binary versions have been hardware-fused to prevent any rollbacks.
By locking the bootloader without providing an official unlocking method for global devices, Samsung is fundamentally altering the agreement it has with its consumers.
Why This Matters:
- True Ownership: When we purchase a device, we own the hardware. The ability to unlock the bootloader to install custom ROMs, kernels, or root access is a fundamental right of Android enthusiasts.
- E-Waste and Longevity: Custom ROMs keep older or unsupported devices alive for years. Killing OEM Unlock forces planned obsolescence and contributes to global e-waste.
- The Android Spirit: Android was built on the foundation of open-source freedom. Samsung is mimicking the closed-wall ecosystem of Apple, alienating the very power-users and developers who helped build the Galaxy brand's reputation.
Our Proposed Solution & Demand:
We urgently request that Samsung re-enables the "OEM Unlock" toggle in the upcoming stable releases, such as One UI 8.5 or One UI 9, for all global devices.
We understand Samsung's potential security concern: preventing inexperienced users from accidentally bricking their devices. However, a permanent hardware/software ban is not the answer. Instead, make it harder for average users to access. Hide the OEM Unlock option within a deeper "Advanced Developer" menu, require a specific disclaimer/warning process, or implement a transparent waiting period. Restrict it so only conscious power-users can reach it, but do not remove the choice entirely.
Do not punish your most loyal power-users. Give us back the keys to our own devices.
