I care about Fair trade products in supermarkets because:

1. Many farmers around the world a barely getting any pay for the amazing crops they produce.
2. Farmers do not get much money and they spend ages to grow their crops and they can't support their families.
3.  In the tobacco industry farm workers earn 0.3% of all profit from their crops. (the manufacturers earn 49% of profit).
4. Farm workers have the lowest annual income of any U.S. wage and salary workers.
5. Currently some animals get better care and shelter than workers.
6. Spain is Europe's leading producer for fruit and veg. Strawberries alone are worth €500 million per year but most of the farmworkers, the shacks they live in are makeshift huts that are even part cardboard! These people are mostly migrants that have no access to clean water and sanitation. Also, they were not given gloves or even masks during the COVID-19 pandemic.
7. Fair trade is good for non-farmers as well because it is always meant to be high quality.
8. Fair trade is eco-friendly as the crops use minimum energy to minimize their environmental footprint.
9. Children can not be exploited/forced to work so they can stay in school and so when they can work they will know how to manage their family.
