Safety concerns regarding the use of schools- in session- as voting sites
The Issue
As a concerned parent with two young children attending Resnik CLC, I am raising a red flag about an issue that is personal to me and many other parents across the country. The practice of using our children's school buildings as voting sites while they and their teachers are in active sessions compromises their safety.
Voting is a fundamental right and civic duty, but so is the safety of our children while in school. We must question these practices and seek alternative solutions. Voting can happen in numerous other public venues. If the building must remain open, we ask that additional safety protocols are offered & implemented by city officials. While speaking with the teachers at Resnik, there have been excellent alternative ideas posed to combat some of the inherent safety limitations of the current building.
We need to prioritize the health and safety of our children over convenience. Let's push for our elected officials to reconsider this policy, ensuring that our kids and teachers can study and thrive in a safe and secure environment. Please sign this petition to support us in challenging this issue.
