During the recent pandemic of Covid-19 public transit drivers are forced to work as an “essential service”. Events have been cancelled, schools shut down, all in the name of “social distancing”. On a daily basis drivers of the TTC are subjected to crush loads of people on their bus routes, everyone in a small space. The sick, the elderly, children, the disabled, every type of person are on these buses. People frequently spit on drivers spreading germs and disease. There is no way to keep our bus drivers safe, especially in a pandemic like this one. There are elderly drivers, immune compromised drivers, etc. Keeping public transit running is a disaster waiting to happen. Please sign this petition to help support your local drivers for paid leave off, or at the very least, protection, a lower passenger limit, and hazard pay.
