The Issue

Residents and visitors in Oakland, Maryland face daily safety risks at two key intersections:

  • East Pennington Street and North 3rd Street: This busy intersection near McDonald's and Greggs Pharmacy makes it difficult and dangerous for drivers to turn or cross safely.
  • Oak Street and North 3rd Street: Pedestrians here face serious risks due to missing crossing signals and faded or absent crosswalk markings.

We are calling on the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) to take action by:

  • Installing a traffic signal at E Pennington & N 3rd Street
  • Repairing and upgrading pedestrian crossing lights and crosswalks at Oak & 3rd Street.
  • Improving visibility with clear signage and fresh pavement markings

These improvements are essential for protecting drivers, walkers, seniors, children, and everyone who travels through this area.

Let's make Oakland safer before someone gets seriously hurt.

Please sign and share this petition to show SHA that our community supports these much-needed safety upgrades.
