I am personally connected to many individuals who express themselves as drag queens. These vibrant, creative souls are a vital part of our community's fabric, yet they face unique challenges and threats due to their identity. It is time for us to stand up and demand better protection for them.

Drag queens often face discrimination, harassment, and violence simply because they choose to live authentically. According to a study by the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP), LGBTQ+ individuals are 1.8 times more likely to experience hate violence than their non-LGBTQ+ counterparts. This statistic is even higher for those who publicly identify as drag queens.

We must push for stronger laws that specifically protect drag queens from hate crimes and discrimination in all areas of life – including employment, housing, healthcare access, and public accommodations. We also need education programs that promote understanding and acceptance of all forms of gender expression.
