#Safe Screens - Strengthen Digital Safety Laws

The Issue

In today’s world, our lives are lived as much online as offline.
But for countless women across India, the internet, a space meant for connection and creativity has become a place of fear.

Every day, women face trolling, cyberstalking, deepfake pornography, doxxing, sextortion, and identity theft. Their personal photos are stolen, morphed, and weaponized. Their voices are silenced through harassment.
This isn’t just a “cyber issue” - it’s a violation of dignity, safety, and fundamental rights.

We, the undersigned, demand stronger digital protection for women through:
Stricter implementation of the IT Act (2000) and IT Rules (2021) to hold social media platforms accountable for harmful content.
Fast-track grievance redressal: ensuring action on reports of deepfakes, stalking, and non-consensual content within 24-48 hours.
Dedicated Cyber Safety Helplines & Legal Support Cells in every state for women victims of online abuse.
Public digital literacy campaigns focusing on consent, online ethics, and reporting mechanisms.
Collaboration between government, NGOs, and digital platforms to make online spaces truly safe and inclusive.

Why This Matters
Online violence doesn’t end at the screen. It impacts mental health, careers, and everyday freedom.
A woman who doesn’t feel safe online cannot be fully free offline.
Digital dignity isn’t optional - it’s a human right.

Our Campaign: #SafeScreens | #StopTheDeepfake
