Safe Schools, Not Prison Walls: A Call for Real Change in Killeen ISD

Safe Schools, Not Prison Walls: A Call for Real Change in Killeen ISD
The Issue
How Would You Feel If...
How would you feel if every day at school, instead of focusing on learning, you were constantly looking over your shoulder? If the place meant to inspire and educate felt more like a prison than a safe haven? If the policies put in place to “protect” you only made you feel more anxious and unheard?
This is our reality.
We, the students of Killeen ISD, are speaking out because we are tired of living in fear. We are tired of ineffective policies that fail to address the real issues. We are tired of feeling punished for the actions of a few. Instead of fostering a supportive and secure environment, the current measures have only made things worse, creating division, anxiety, and a culture of distrust.
We want change.
We demand a better approach to school safety, one that truly protects students without making us feel like suspects. We need solutions that prioritize mental health, community engagement, and proactive safety measures instead of blanket policies that do more harm than good.
Our voices matter. Our safety matters. Our future matters.
Sign this petition to call on Killeen ISD, Representative Brad Buckley, and the Killeen City Council to take real action. We deserve schools where we can feel safe, supported, and valued, not afraid.
Stand with us. Sign now. Let’s make our schools a place of learning, not fear.
