Dear Supporters,
We are thrilled to announce a monumental success in our efforts to enhance the safety of the intersection at Twin Hickory Lake Drive, Hickory Bend Drive, and Hearthstone Drive! With your unwavering support and over 350 signatures, our collective voices have made a powerful impact.
Following persistent advocacy and several constructive meetings with the Department of Public Works and our local representative, Misty Whitehead, our community's call for a safer intersection has been realized. In June 2024, a temporary roundabout was constructed!
We are delighted to report that in the short time since the installation of the temporary roundabout, there have been zero accidents—a significant and welcome improvement from the frequent incidents we witnessed previously. This development not only enhances the safety of our neighborhood but also significantly uplifts the quality of life for all residents, particularly our children and school-goers, as well as pedestrians and residents living close to the intersection.
This achievement is a testament to the strength of community action. We will continue to monitor the impact of this change closely, especially once school starts again, as this will provide further insights into the roundabout's effectiveness during higher traffic periods. Our decision-makers are hopeful that the additional school traffic will further demonstrate the improvement at the intersection.
For a permanent version of the roundabout, the planning team aims to avoid disruption during the school year. They are considering fast-tracking the construction to potentially coincide with the winter break, ensuring minimal impact on school activities.

Thank you once again for your support, dedication, and decisive action. Together, we made it happen!
Warm regards,
