Since opening its doors in August 2018, FOLD has been an unrivaled cultural hub, bringing together music, art performance, fashion and exhibitions, and more importantly providing space for diverse communities from across those cultural landscapes to meet and collaborate. Positioned between Canning Town and Star Lane station, FOLD is also a source of financial stability for those who live in the neighborhood and to the borough of Newham.

Its license has been temporarily suspended, with the threat of permanent closure. This petition is to show Newham Council and the relevant authorities that:

1. FOLD’s continued existence is critical and necessary to the diversity of London’s cultural landscape;

2. FOLD provides a safe and inclusive space for a range of marginalised groups, including the LGBTQ+ community;

3. FOLD’s closure would remove a much valued and needed space in London's nightlife and would cause irreparable damage to its associated scenes.

We will not stand for the arbitrary closure of yet another significant cultural institution that has worked so hard to create a culture of acceptance and equality for all.
