The spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic seems set to render the Western Cape as the new epicentre of the rapid spread of the virus. We now notice an imminent spike of the rate of infection emanating from various of our own local communities. It is precisely that we, as the SACP, having taken note of the serious lack of adequate housing facilities in the Western Cape are now calling on the health authorities to immediately provide alternative isolation facilities for tested persons who are awaiting their results regardless whether they are asymptomatic or not.  The Health Department must quarantine all persons who have undertaken COVID- 19 tests because they are symptomatic. for our people to wait for Covid-19 results at their homes is self defeating as many reside in squatter camps. In Cape Town we know that our people are sent home without any monitoring or support to roam in congested areas.
