On October 31,2020 Matthew Hoy Edgar of Hemphill Tx murdered Livye Lewis. She died of blunt force trauma, a gun shot to the neck and one to the back. Matthew was found at the scene intoxicated, unconscious, and covered in her blood. When he came to, He told officers he had been stabbed. He was transported to Sabine County Hospital and they released him saying he hadn’t been stabbed. 
The DA took his time taking the file before the Grand Jury. So Matthew Edgar was released on a 50,000 bond. With no stipulations.  For 5,000 he is walking the streets of Sabine county. Frequenting the stores Livyes loved ones go to.. On Thursday dec 16,2021 Livye’s mother, Darci Bass was in the closest convenience store to her home. The only car in the parking lot. Only customer in the store. When Matthew walks in. Understandably, Darci lost control. She started throwing things screaming “YOU KILLED MY DAUGHTER!” she chased him out of the store. Busted the windshield to his truck and ran down the road behind him. She apologized profusely to store workers and onlookers. Matthew Edgar filed charges on Darci for criminal mischief, retaliation and assault causing bodily injury. 
Darci turned herself in to Sabine county sheriffs office on dec/20/2021. 
they were having a peaceful protest outside the jail so Darcis surrender was videoed. When she went through the intake door, witnesses say that officer Mac slammed her against the wall and shoved her through the intake door causing her to fall. Darcis sister Tonia was also there and injured in the scuffle. When the officer grabbed Darci, Tonia walked up saying “ you don’t need to treat her like that “ and the same officer shoved Tonia Bass to the floor dislocating her knee. They left her on the floor of the sheriffs office unattended. 911 was called. It’s all on video. Darci should NOT be facing charges! Imagine walking into your child’s murderer. The same one who keeps making bond for little to nothing. What would you do? Would you stop at nothing to get justice for your child??
