We were shocked to read news about the Tanjung Aru beach development project (TAED). WE read that the former ADUN for Likas, Mr. Junz Wong, had asked the Chief Minister on the authenticity of a letter that he received regarding the mortgage of the Tanjung Aru land to the Chinese government for a loan of RM3.6 billion. We, at Save Open Spaces, are also deeply concerned as to the truth of the issue. The Chief Minister should respond by way of giving a simple answer – “Is it true that the Tanjung Aru beach land has been or is to be mortgaged to the China government for a huge loan – Yes or no.” The people, all Sabahans, have a right to know.
