Hello Fine Campaigners
Some GREAT Breaking News: The Planning Inspector has dismissed Rockwell's Appeal.
This is it. One Battersea Bridge has left the area.
A news report is already on The Chelsea Citizen, but do please visit there for all the latest reaction. We will also endeavour to post the entire judgement.
This campaign started two years ago - almost to the day. It has been time-consuming, endlessly frustrating and has required the writing of hundreds of emails, scores of articles, and no end of talking. But the work has been well worth it. I am delighted - indeed, emotional - that we have got the right result. The Inspector has done her job well. Common sense has prevailed. This scheme had no place on this location.
If Rockwell really cares so much about the housing crisis in London (as they have said in many pious press statements), then may I suggest that they put some affordable housing in their recently completed 90 apartment Hurlingham Waterfront development, which has precisely ZERO. This is because the company "inherited" the planning permission, which pre-dated LA requirements for such things. It is still in Rockwell's GIFT to provide some. G'on, Mr Mee, do it! Hmm.
A thought: It takes one person to start a campaign, but it takes a whole community to win it. Thank you for all the support.
Mick Jagger - no less - has been one of our most loyal backing singers during this mission. At last we have SATISFACTION!
Until the next campaign.... Aaaarrgghhhh, Noooooooo! :)
