Hello All

Rockwell Property's cynical manipulation of the Comments system on Wandsworth Council's planning portal continues apace.

Twenty-seven new letters of Support arrived on just one day this week - Monday, 30th September. All carried the exact template text as suggested by Rockwell. In fact, every supporter even noted the same pronoun - "Mx". I know we live in a world of ever-multiplying pronouns, but this is a new one on me. Actually, I have just checked what it stands for: a "gender-neutral honorific for those who don't wish to be identified by gender". Quite amazing that ALL of Rockwell's supporters share the same sexual identity choice. What are the odds.

I am determined to discredit Rockwell's crass activity. They now have 400 letters of "support" and my research shows that just 6% have a remote chance of having been authentically posted by a "supporter". How can it be right for a company - indeed, anyone - to flood a system with supporting letters like this after they have been gathered in such a fashion?

There is every chance that by the time Rockwell lodges its revised planning application this month, the letters of support will outweigh the letters of objection (currently at 735). Madness.

I would like to hear from any "Mx" named on these letters who is not happy with the way their name and address is being used. What was the process in the solicitation of the names and addresses? My email is easy to find online.

Regards

Mx Rob

In case you want to bypass the middle man and save Rockwell the effort, here is their effusive, self-congratulatory text. Remember to sign is "Mx":

I am writing in support of the proposals to transform the Glassmill office building at One Battersea Bridge, Wandsworth, into much-needed homes.

I support the redevelopment of underutilised brownfield sites like this one. It is highly energy inefficient and struggling for commercial viability, with the building either vacant or occupied on short term licenses below market rates.

Comparably these plans will create 142 high quality homes, including 45 (35%) affordable homes that will help alleviate housing pressures in the borough.

The proposals have clear economic benefits: supporting local SMEs and creatives through the delivery of 4,964 sq. ft of affordable office space and delivering a new riverside restaurant at ground level, these plans will unlock the Battersea Bridge south side bringing new visitors boosting the local economy.

I also was pleased to learn about how aligned the application is with the community. With Rockwell having already begun conversations with local charities about occupying the 2,906 sq. ft of purpose-built community space included in the plans.

For the above reasons I support the application and urge you to grant consent.

Yours sincerely,
