This week has seen big change at Rugby Borough Council. They’ve listened to us and they’ve now asked the planning inspector for a hearing so that local people can have their say. We don’t know whether that request will be granted and the deadline is looming – written representations have to be in by midnight Tuesday 29 May.
Please make your representation via the appeal portal and include the following:
I am against the appeal proposals for the reasons given by the LPA and also because the proposal will have a negative economic impact on the local rural economy with a net loss of rural jobs, contrary to policy.
I also note respectfully that the planning officer’s report to committee did not consider the impact of the proposed pig factory on the wider landscape, which was the reason for refusal at planning committee.
In addition, the application is unsuitable for the proposed site because
• The site is special – it's in a flood zone, it's in a nitrate sensitive area and in a drinking water safeguard zone
• The plan will adversely affect many neighbouring, long established and successful local rural businesses including heritage breed farms, smallholdings, camping site and riding stables
• The application is incomplete – it has no employee facilities and it doesn’t say how it will meet regulations on animal welfare which include the ability for pigs to manipulate material like straw.
Thank you for your support!
