The Issue

We call on RTÉ to withdraw Ireland from the Eurovision Song Contest in protest against Israel's participation while it commits atrocities in Gaza, and in response to widespread concerns about unfair televoting. Ireland must stand for human rights, justice, and artistic integrity.

To Mr. Kevin Bakhurst, Director-General of RTÉ, and the RTÉ Eurovision Delegation,

We, the undersigned, call on RTÉ to immediately withdraw Ireland from the Eurovision Song Contest in protest against Israel’s continued participation while it carries out atrocities in Gaza that the International Court of Justice has stated may plausibly amount to genocide.

Ireland has a proud tradition of standing up for human rights and showing solidarity with oppressed peoples, especially the Palestinian people. Continuing to participate in Eurovision alongside a state accused of such grave international crimes undermines our values and moral credibility. Eurovision brands itself as a celebration of music and unity, yet it allows Israel to whitewash horrific violence through cultural participation. This is not neutrality, it is complicity.

Beyond the moral and legal concerns, the legitimacy of the contest itself has been deeply shaken. Viewers around the world witnessed what appeared to be blatant manipulation of the televoting process in Israel’s favour, casting a shadow over Eurovision’s fairness and integrity. The European Broadcasting Union’s failure to respond meaningfully has only deepened public disillusionment.

We believe Ireland should not lend its name, its artists, or its public funds to a platform that ignores mass human suffering and undermines democratic trust.

We therefore urge RTÉ to take a principled stand and withdraw Ireland from the Eurovision Song Contest until Israel is suspended from the competition.

Silence is not neutrality. Participation is not harmless. Let Ireland lead with conscience.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
