When I started to write this petition 6-7 years ago now I was determined to report only on facts that could be verified on documentation that I had in my possession, and that is a practise I will continue with. The question I have asked in the previous update and the one I continue with is something I cannot prove either way, but from the comments in the last update it seems many readers think that the present NSW Government do not care!
This update is to encourage all readers to act and to make the NSW accountable for the laws that exist for the protection of animals in that State, and to make them appreciate that complaints cannot just be ignored! So please act! Once the Government decides that they have to act then enforcers of POCTA which are better than the RSPCA NSW will be appointed.
So please make them care!
When I raised concerns with the Premier below is the reply I received from one of her Ministers Ray Williams MP. This is what he said (see photo) -
Ref: A4592225 MrKeithClimpsonclimpo2@yahoo.com Dear Mr Climpson Thank you for your correspondence regarding previous correspondence sent to the Hon Adam Marshall MP, Minister for Agriculture and Western Sydney. I am replying on behalf of the Premier and I have noted your comments. I am sure you will appreciate Ministers receive a very large volume of correspondence and on occasions delays in replying can unfortunately be delayed. I have made enquiries on your behalf and I am advised a reply will be sent to you shortly. I have sent a copy of your email to the Minister’s Office for their information. Thank you for taking the time to bring this matter to the Government’s attention. Yours sincerely

Dear Ray Williams MP
Thank you for your email sent on behalf of the Premier.
Regarding your statement `Ministers receive a very large volume of correspondence and on occasions delays in replying can unfortunately be delayed’.
I am unsure what you mean by the above statement. If you are implying that the Hon. Marshall MP (and not Ministers in general) has not had the opportunity to reply because he has received a large volume of correspondence could you confirm this please? Your statement does suggest this but I do need to be sure that this is the case. I ask because when I post an update in my change.org petition page `Tell the RSPCA NSW that this is Cruel!’ there is a need for accuracy.
You also have stated that you have been informed that a reply will be sent to me shortly. I confirm that I received your letter (undated) by email on the 17-3-2021 and I still not have had a reply from Hon. Marshall MP. Can you inform me please what `shortly’ means, as I have been waiting since Dec 2020 for a response.
I also ask, if the Hon Marshall MP has received such a large volume of correspondence that he is still not able to reply to, has he informed the Premier of this? If so then it would seem that the Premier has been grossly negligent in not rectifying the matter by providing extra support staff. If he has not informed the Premier then I would consider he is then grossly negligent and has undoubtedly caused a great deal of inconvenience to a great number of taxpayers who have written to him, and this would be a matter that should be brought to the attention of the Premier.
I thank you in anticipation of your response to the queries I have raised with you.
Yours Sincerely
Keith Climpson
I waited and no response, wrote again and no response. After preparing another email to Ray Williams MP I noticed a very small statement to the base of the correspondence from the Premier - `Note that this address is not monitored for replies.’
So I sent another email to the Premier’s Dept. (see below for details) and to date have not received a confirmation of receipt.
My stance on all of this is that MP’s and others in Government circles are by default public servants and need to be accountable to the people who pay their salaries, ie the taxpayer.
For readers who wish to contact the Hon. Marshall or Ray Williams MP I suggest the easiest way is to write your query on your word processing program. Save, and then you can use the copy and paste utility for correspondences to both of the gentlemen. Google both for contact details, and you will then have to go through a proforma form to contact them. You will not be provided with an email address for them, just a form on their contact site. Please remember to tick the box at the end, if you want a response! Definitely a response is required. You can read the correspondence criteria on their site. The first line states -We aim to open all correspondence within one business day of receipt, and respond where required, within 20 working days of receipt.
Unfortunately not something the Hon. Marshall seems to be able to achieve!
Thanks everyone, Regards Keith
