Dear Readers, since my last update I have been much encouraged by the level of support that this petition has attracted, and for the comments that you have made (some of which I have utilised, see below). I thank you so much for that, and I can assure all my readers that I shall continue to fight to get answers and also for a better deal for Animal Welfare.

Below is an email sent to the Minister who has responsibilities for this area. He has been in the spotlight recently for his involvement (or lack of) concerning fish deaths in Menindee. However I shall do my utmost to ensure he does act on the issues concerning the RSPCA NSW. To date I have not had a response, and if any readers wish to make enquiries I urge you to do so. Just Google contact Niall Blair and fill in a questionnaire, and cut and paste any information from this update if so required.

Regards Keith.

Attention Niall Blair

Minister for Primary Industries

NSW PARLIAMENT.

16-01-2018

Dear Niall, I have recently written to RSPCA Australia (as detailed below) requesting information concerning the fate of the cats that were removed from Camp Kitty after the RSPCA NSW raided that establishment (see point 1). Could you please approach that organisation and help me get an answer? I also ask if you can get the RSPCA NSW to disclose why it told me that there were no welfare issues when history shows that there were many welfare issues. Do you think that the RSPCA NSW was putting the profit motive before their duties to protect animal welfare?

Also I ask you, as I have asked the RSPCA AUS as at point (2) below if you knew that the NSW State leading animal rights organisation was a public company, and if you did know their status does that concern you?

I also ask if you consider the grant that the RSPCA NSW receives is money well spent and could it not be better spent by granting it to a charity?

I refer you to the comments made by members of the public at the end of the email which demonstrates a considerable amount of unease concerning RSPCA NSW activities, and I would like to write in my next update something that demonstrates that the present NSW Government takes a proactive approach to animal cruelty issues and only issues grants to those organisations that are demonstrably helping to prevent animal cruelty.

I thank you in anticipation of your help with this matter. You may recall that I have previously written to you about Camp Kitty and the RSPCA NSW.

Regards Keith Climpson

Dear RSPCA Australia.

I write to you in connection with a petition I have been running on change.org entitled `Tell the RSPCA NSW That this is Cruel!’ This petition has been running for three years now since Mr. McCudden had about 200 cats on his property living in the most awful conditions. Despite the RSPCA NSW telling me, our State MP, and others that there were no welfare issues when a television camera crew attended and broadcast the situation suddenly about 10 RSPCA vans came round and the cats disappeared. I have asked (and so have the readers of my petition) what has happened to the cats but we can get no answers.

So I ask of the RSPCA (1) can you get the RSPCA NSW to tell all the animal lovers who are concerned about this situation what has happened to those cats? Also (2) is the RSPCA not concerned that a public company is operating within the goodwill circle of a charity? Many think that a public company will put its profitability before the welfare of animals, and if my experience of its attitude towards the cats at Camp Kitty is anything to go by this is what is happening.

I attach below my latest update to my petition site, and also attach a photo of a cat which was left to rot at Camp Kitty for 6 weeks, which ended up being partially eaten by the other starving cats, and when the RSPCA NSW was telling everyone that there were no welfare issues.

Also printed at the end of this email are just a few of the comments from readers of the petition.

Please do not think I am anti RSPCA. I joined the RSPCA in the UK as a young boy and joined the WA branch as a Senior Life Member (No 297720). I now beg the RSPCA Australia to act, determine the veracity of the information I have provided, and please make all branches of the RSPCA movement honest, caring, and more open. I consider there is no place in an organistation for a bunch like RSPCA NSW. I want an RSPCA THAT IS STRONG AND CARES FOR ALL ANIMALS, and also a CHARITY and not a PUBLIC COMPANY.

(My latest update on change.org)

Dear Readers, once again many thanks for your support and the comments in my last update. Virtually everyone was critical of the RSPCA and their attitude to animals. One reader has supported the RSPCA however and he has made the following comments. Firstly that they have limited funds, and also that the RSPCA does not put animals down willy nilly. To comment on those points I refer to the RSPCA NSW own Annual Report (17-18).

Reasons for Euthanasia

Cats/Kittens- Behavioural(933) Infectious (1209) Feral (1678) Medical (970) Organisational(1231)

If those cats that disappeared from Camp Kitty, the almost 200 that the RSPCCA NSW had said there were no welfare issues, I wonder if they were euthanised? Maybe they fell under the Organisational input! But who knows, they could have been euthanised for behavioural issues. I think if I had been locked up in the same conditions that those cats had suffered then I would probably have behavioural issues.

But lets look at other parts of the Animals Annual Report. 31 Inspectors investigated 15451 cases of cruelty leading to 43 successful successful prosecutions. Seems strange that after telling me that there were no welfare issues at Camp Kitty a successful prosecution results for the owner of Camp Kitty when the RSPCA seems to be reluctant to prosecute in many other cases.

What about the RSPCA NSW having limited funds? Once more the RSPCA NSW own figures (see Financial Report).

First off, you must remember the RSPCA NSW is a PUBLIC COMPANY limited by Guarantee. Yes a PUBLIC COMPANY (that is what they say in their Financial Report) so it has income tax to worry about all that sort of thing! They have an ABN Number 87 000 001 641

I have no financial background, so I find that the RSPCA NSW is a Public Company very amazing. I thought that the RSPCA NSW was a charity. I would love for the RSPCA NSW to clarify that point, as up to reading their report I had absolutely no idea of their Public Company status.

Anyway these are the figures.

For the year under heading 2018 the COMPANY had a revenue of $32,257,613 with a Government Grant of $1,074,421. Total Assets of $107,506,750.

It appears to me that the RSPCA NSW Company has plenty of funds to deal with cruelty issues, and once more I ask what has happened to all those cats at Camp Kitty?

I advise my readers that I have written to all the Directors of the RSPCA NSW in the past and they did not respond. One Director is also the CEO. He has a Master of Business Management. The more this petition has dragged on I am left wondering what interest the company has in looking after animals and what interest they have in running a multi million dollar industry.

Unfortunately I now think that all my efforts to get those cats at Camp Kitty a decent environment to live their lives in has just resulted in their deaths, because they could have been a profit burden on the RSPCA NSW Company (ABN 87 000 001 641)

I hope they can comment on all the issues I have raised in this update.

I agree , I am in the uk & have followed this shocking story from the beginning & couldnt understand why it wasnt behaving in the same way as our RSPCA which is solely a charity & a good one, reliant only on the public donating .I suspect this is why!! its a damn business & even with grants from the govt!!!!Unbelievable! Everyone should know this information ,its important .And I would never support this organization. You are better to support & donate to all your smaller local rescues & charities .

Maryellen flynn

i always thought that the RSPCA was a charity not a company
why does it all comedown to an animal or a human being to be treated in
such a disgusting way
RSPCA please explain!

The RSPCA in Queensland is also a company. "2016 - RSPCA Qld changed to a company limited by guarantee." https://www.rspcaqld.org.au/who-we-are/our-history

Australia has thousands of "charities" and most of them are not worth giving money to as there is absolutely no transparency, and most of the money does not get to where it's needed. The RSPCA is one of the few charities we have donated to, trusting they're doing the job they claim to do. How do we help animals if the RSPCA can't be trusted? What hope do the poor creatures have when they're at the mercy of neglectful, cruel and abusive owners?

Sue Josmore

I am a huge animal advocate but I despise the RSPCA.I once incorrectly believed that the RSPCA were a good animal organisation but THEY ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT! They have a very high kill rate. These cretins were going to kill Bailey who I adopted when i was phoned but the vet nurse advising that this lovely 2 year old golden retriever was to be put down within 30 minutes.I saved him and the poor vet nurse had her employment terminated for phoning me.Then there was Daisy and Duke 2 lovely brother and sister beagle dogs,ex customs dogs. The RSPCA killed Duke because he was barking in a severe thunderstorm. I will never donate ever again to the crap, uncaring RSPCA. Shame on this uncaring so called animal organisation.

Sorry but those that support RSPCA need to open their eyes and do some research and not just take what they say as gospel - I know for fact that they do kill animals willy nilly - a beautiful kitten was used in an ad many people wanted to adopt that kitten even a volunteer - after the ad was done they told the vet to Euthanasia that kitten and told everyone it was adopted. So don't tell they don't kill willy nilly. They also don't have morals and all these animals are just $$$ if they can't make big bucks off it then they don't save it.

There are many more shocking comments left on my petition site, the above is just a selection!

In conclusion I thank you for taking the time to read the above and urge you to take the necessary action to restore the integrity of the RSPCA . Keith Climpson
