The day after my last update when Camp Kitty was described as `an over grown, vermin and snake infested cattery’ a contractor arrived at Camp Kitty and mowed the grass!
The photo shows the length of the grass before and after the grass was mowed.
Following the update `Cowra Council- What lies Beneath?’ Council Officers visited Camp Kitty the following day as well. Surprisingly, the Officials climbed over the fence at the entrance to Camp Kitty to gain access, whereas previously they told us that they couldn’t access Camp Kitty because Richard McCudden (owner of Camp Kitty) had threatened to sue Council for trespass.
The success of people power via change.org to get things done contrasts with the years lost when Cowra Council seemed incapable of managing the developing situation at Camp Kitty.
This is not surprising as Cowra Shire Council has a demonstrated history of repeatedly poorly managing ratepayers/ residents issues of concerns.
There are in employ some Senior Officers who are involved in the Operational Management of Council and who collectively and/ or individually seem incapable of effectively managing issues of concerns amongst ratepayers/ residents.
Also in situ is a Mayor who appears to be a ‘Ruler Absolute’ and there seems to be some sort of ‘Binding Agreement’ between the Mayor and some Councillors to make ad hoc decisions based on economical truths and economical facts. In this Shire Council, truth and the facts seem to be casualties of operational mismanagement. However, that is not to say that there are not some hard-working and fair-minded Councillors and Officers who consistently demonstrate that they aptly undertake their responsibilities with dedication and professionalism. I thank those Councillors and Officers for their good efforts.
It is apparent to many of us that had Cowra Council effectively managed the unfolding crisis at Camp Kitty from it’s inception, the 5 years of cruelty that Richard McCudden subjected those cats to could and would have been avoided! Council’s mismanagement of the situation in effect gave tacit approval to McCudden to continue to engage in his acts of cruelty towards the cats.
I now call on Cowra Shire Council to demonstrate how their actions were fair, just and reasonable for the cats.
Maybe readers can encourage them to respond. Their contact details are Tel. 02 6340 2000 and email council@cowra.nsw.gov.au
