The RSPCA states “We know the conditions at Camp Kitty were cruel and that's exactly why we prosecuted Mr Richard McCudden in 2016”. I should like to remind the RSPCA that the during the period of time that I and other residents were reporting and providing photographic evidence to the RSPCA, the RSPCA repeatedly stated that there were 'WERE NO WELFARE ISSUES' at Camp Kitty. By virtue of the fact that there were 200 cats living in appalling conditions, with varying injuries and illness and inadequate veterinary care, I would say that there were welfare issues. This is borne out by the fact that the Animal Psychologist engaged by Cowra Council (in January 2015) to assess the cats found numerous psychological problems amongst the cats. RSPCA states that “the photographs and correspondence on the change.org petition are 18months – 2yrs old”. Of course some of the photographs predate the court process. They are were used to demonstrate that those were the conditions during the time the RSPCA NSW were repeatedly stating that there were no welfare issues at Camp Kitty. The statements that there were “No Welfare Issues” says more about the RSPCA's credibility and their demonstrated appalling lack of good judgement during the years that they failed to take adequate action against Mr McCudden. In my opinion, the RSPCA's actions or lack thereof thus allowed Richard McCudden to continue to conduct his cruelty activities. RSPCA's statements says more about the RSPCA than it does about my petition. Recently, after several emails and attempted emails to the RSPCA I contacted the Police and wrote to the Divisional Commander of Police because the remaining cats at Camp Kitty were left unattended for 3 days in the excessive heat without adequate food and water. It was left to myself and other residents to join and run hoses to attempt to provide water for the cats. We had to throw cat food over the fence so the cats could eat. The Police notified me that they would contact the RSPCA, the RSPCA eventually turned up after the person who normally feed the cats returned after (as he said) being away in Lithgow for 3 days. I first spoke with Inspector Croker on 4 November 2015. Inspector Holloway the other Inspector I attempted to speak with on that day dismissed me out of hand and would only say to me `speak to the other Inspector.' I approached Inspector Croker and provided him with photographic evidence of a dead cat and other photographic evidence of animal cruelty being perpetrated by Richard McCudden. Inspector Croker was only prepared to attempt to chide me and questioned how I knew that the cat was dead. He declined my invitation to speak with the person who took the photographs (and was waiting to speak with him). He was `too busy'. This conversation was witnessed by the residents on whose property we were at the time of the exchange. I was very concerned by his manner and emailed him later that day to formally record my concerns. To date I've never had a response to my email. My other discussion with anyone from the RSPCA was with Inspector Croker a year ago when I was asked by a Council Officer to speak with him. He attended my home however the conversation soon became centred around how I knew the cat was dead and providing our photographic evidence and diary notes in a format that could be assessed and used by the RSPCA. I invite readers to write to the RSPCA NSW and seek from them the evidence of the failed attempts of their rational discussions with me. Once again the RSPCA's statements demonstrates more about their lack of credibility and ineffectiveness than it says about me or my petition. I will provide more information in my next update. The attached photo demonstrates conditions as they existed in January of this year! If the RSPCA is regularly monitoring/ inspecting, why do these conditions exist at Camp Kitty today?
