A 55-year-old man is charged with the murder of an 85-year-old woman in Huonville, Tasmania this morning. He is known to her. Her death means we have lost three women to acts of male violence in four days. All were killed by men known to them.
This victim is the 49th Australian woman killed this year. Last year we lost 79 women to violence - the year before 106 women were killed.
