Unemployment for spouse of brittle type 1 Diabetic had to stop working due to COVID19 risk
The Issue
***Please help *** .... Wife of a Brittle Type 1 Juvenile Diabetic husband, with compermised immune system and heart Health (heart attack) that had to stop working due of the high risk of me bringing home COVID-19 coronavirus and my husband being so susceptible to catching this deadly COVID-19 coronavirus . I am not eligible for Reemployment Assistance Benefits because I hadn't been working long enough when this pandemic happened.
*I had been out of the work world for about 10 years (taking care of my family) and I finally returned to work in the beginning of January, 2020. I was so excited, happy to be working again and loved my job and co-workers. I was doing my best working through this pandemic at a grocery store as a cashier/store clerk, until it started spreading in my town/state. Our store ran out of gloves I didn't have to time to keep washing my hands throughout the day due to long lines and I even was threatened by a customer for lack of food/toiletries. I tried but when the risk became to high I asked for a leave of absence but was denied. My husband is on SSI/SSDI and I would still be at my job if it wasn't for this COVID-19 pandemic. I dont quality for Florida RA benefits because I was only there for a few months prior, this was "not due to cause of my own" that I had to stop working I am protecting my family. I want and would love to return when it's safe to do so. please help with the requirements for unemployment, through this pandemic. Mitigation to prevent the spread of COVID-19, protecting the people with underlying health conditions and compermised immune systems is a CDC guideline and should be a qualification for assistance, they are the ones who are at high risk and I sleep, eat bath inches from him.
** It means so much to me, after my husband's heart attack over a year and half ago I thought I was going to loose him. We were told by doctor's years ago at Joslin Clinic that they didn't think he would make it to 40years old, he just turned 40 in November and I can not put myself or him at the risk of catching or bringing home COVID-19. With shortage of PPE for grocery store workers/cashier's and having hundreds and hundreds of customers inches away from me it was only a matter of time, no matter how much I try to be safe. There was always people caughing, sneezing touching everything and not following the CDC guidelines.
**Other spouse's/family members that had to stop working due to COVID-19 virus and living with someone with serious underlying health conditions should be eligible for Reemployment Assistance/unemployment benefits, no matter the length of time worked prior to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
**I'm terrified to return to work while this COVID-19 coronavirus still hasn't hit its peak and spreading it to my husband and feel people like me are going to be ignored or fall through the cracks, please help me protect my husband, I don't have much and really need unemployment assistance.
- Thank you for your support
Stay safe and healthy, prayers for all
