My goal with this petition is to change the hospital visitation policies during covid-19

The Issue

The problem I want to solve is... Covid-19 patients forced to be away from loved ones while they are hospitalized. It's unethical!

Too many hospitalized covid patients are dying... not just from complications but being away from loved ones. The strict no visitor policies need to be revised! The need to allow ONE trusted loved one to stay during their time in the hospital! Whether it be a spouse, next of kin, a trusted friend, SOMEONE!

What I experienced from this no visitor policy was my father was forced on a ventilator during the time they refused to allow us in to visit. After they had forced him on it, they allowed us up. We were told my dad put up a h*ll of a fight! Obviously meaning HE DID NOT WANT IT. Every time we were denied access or only allowed a short visit, my dad would get worse. Not to mention the blood clot he formed due to no compression socks! Medical staff NEVER called my mom or me with updates on his condition which in turn caused so much emotional damage.

All procedures or treatments done should be carefully explained with every risk!! Something needs to change, someone should be allowed with the patient at ALL times. If nurses/doctors can go in and out and the back to their family and friends every ending shift, then one family member or friend should be allowed with the patient at all times during their stay in the hospital. ESPECIALLY, if the patient is in an induced coma or given paralytics'!!

We need to stand up and revise these policies! They are unethical and should be against the law for them to make significant medical decisions without the consent of a surviving spouse or trusted power of attorney.

Courtney FoxPetition StarterI lost my dad at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. My family was agonized by the no visitor policies. I watched my dad die in their care. And the unethical things that were said to me. I start this today to hopefully stand up
