Imagine being a kid who lives for skateboarding but you're growing up in Gaza, where war seeps into every corner of your life.

As a mom of two little skaters and an online friend and supporter of the Gaza Skate Team, I've seen firsthand the spirit, joy, and resilience that this sport brings to young lives. For these kids and their dedicated teachers, skateboarding isn't just a hobby, it's hope, community, and a mental escape from the harsh realities that surround them. So no, I cannot sit with my arms crossed doing nothing and I hope you won't either.

The Gaza Skate Team has become a beacon of light in a place too often overshadowed by conflict and hardship. But these young skaters face a challenge that shouldn't exist: they can't get the gear they need. No boards, no protective equipment for beginners, no proper sneakers in some cases and no access to safe facilities to skate in.

Because of political restrictions and ongoing conflict, getting skateboards and even the most basic equipment into Gaza has become nearly impossible. These kids deserve the chance to roll forward toward a brighter future  and it's on us to help make that happen.

According to the United Nations, over 40% of Gaza's population are children, many of them growing up surrounded by war and its lasting trauma. Skateboarding gives them something powerful: an outlet, a community, and a sense of normalcy. That's why it's so important to ensure the Gaza Skate Team has what they need to keep nurturing hope and dreams for the kids and for themselves like other programs around the area.

I'm calling on policymakers and international organizations to facilitate the delivery of skateboards and gear to Gaza, so these young skaters can keep their community alive and thriving despite everything they face.

Please join me in this cause! To help lift the spirits of Gaza's youth and let them glide toward hope.

PS: We know there are already a few skateboards sitting in the West Bank, but due to restrictions, they're not being allowed in. As far as we know, the organizations currently bringing goods into the area include the Red Cross, UNRWA, and aid trucks.

Imagina ser un niño que vive por el skateboarding pero estás creciendo en Gaza, donde la guerra se filtra en cada rincón de tu vida.

Como mamá de dos pequeños skaters y amiga y seguidora en línea del Gaza Skate Team, he visto de primera mano el espíritu, la alegría y la resiliencia que este deporte les da a las vidas de los jóvenes. Para estos niños y sus dedicados maestros, el skateboarding no es solo un pasatiempo, es esperanza, comunidad y un escape mental de las duras realidades que los rodean. Así que no, no puedo quedarme de brazos cruzados sin hacer nada y espero que tú tampoco.

El Gaza Skate Team se ha convertido en un rayo de luz en un lugar demasiado opacado por el conflicto y las dificultades. Pero estos jóvenes skaters enfrentan un desafío que no debería existir: no pueden conseguir el equipo que necesitan. No hay tablas, no hay equipo de protección para principiantes, en algunos casos no hay tenis adecuados y no tienen acceso a instalaciones seguras para patinar.

Debido a las restricciones políticas y el conflicto continuo, hacer llegar patinetas e incluso el equipo más básico a Gaza se ha vuelto casi imposible. Estos niños merecen la oportunidad de avanzar hacia un futuro mejor y depende de nosotros ayudar a que eso suceda.

Según las Naciones Unidas, más del 40% de la población de Gaza son niños, muchos de ellos creciendo rodeados de guerra y su trauma duradero. El skateboarding les da algo poderoso: una salida, una comunidad y una sensación de normalidad. Por eso es tan importante asegurar que el Gaza Skate Team tenga lo que necesita para seguir alimentando la esperanza y los sueños de los niños y de ellos mismos, como otros programas en la zona.

Hago un llamado a los legisladores y organizaciones internacionales para que faciliten la entrega de patinetas y equipo a Gaza, para que estos jóvenes skaters puedan mantener viva y próspera su comunidad a pesar de todo lo que enfrentan.

Por favor únete a esta causa. Para levantar el ánimo de la juventud de Gaza y dejarlos deslizarse hacia la esperanza.

Firma esta petición para apoyar al Gaza Skate Team y darles a estos jóvenes skaters lo que el skateboarding verdaderamente es para ellos: un salvavidas de esperanza.

PD: Sabemos que ya hay algunas patinetas en Cisjordania, pero debido a las restricciones, no las están dejando entrar. Hasta donde sabemos, las organizaciones que actualmente llevan suministros a la zona incluyen la Cruz Roja, UNRWA y camiones de ayuda humanitaria.
