Why this petition matters

Started by Pip English

Please help us to prevent the impending closure of Richmond TAFE's longstanding Equine Unit in mid 2022.
12 long term staff are facing unemployment, and the Hawkesbury is set to lose an invaluable educational resource for young people.
Horse handling is not a skill that can be learned online. Horses are large, unpredictable and dangerous animals to handle. Nothing can replace formal, on-campus, hands on education, and Richmond TAFE is the last Sydney based centre to provide this service. The reasons for the closure are cited by Hawkesbury Liberal MP Robyn Preston as due to falling enrolments. This is untrue.
The Liberal government claims that the the Equine centre too costly to run.
