Let's Keep Inhumane Animal Traps Illegal in New Jersey

Let's Keep Inhumane Animal Traps Illegal in New Jersey
The Issue
The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife has officially decided to allow trappers to use leghold traps, reversing a statewide ban on these inhumane devices in place since 1984!
Leghold traps are incredibly strong devices that slam shut on an animal and exert excruciating force for hours until the trappers shows up to kill the animal.
But there is hope- Senator Raymond J. Lesniak (D-20) has introduced a Resolution SCR 175 to nullify the NJDFW’s decision to allow the use of these traps.
In 1984, the New Jersey State Legislature rightfully found leghold traps to be inhumane. It is now up to the State Legislature to once again tell the department that this type of cruelty has no place in New Jersey.
