The problem with actions is people think of acts as having solid begins and endings. You chose an action, and now it's over.
That's not how it works. Plenty of previous actions play into how you choose to act each new day, and some actions you choose in the now will continue to influence how you think, feel, and act in the future.
Humans like to compartmentalize though. That's small picture talk. Really, if you choose to act for the truth, that continues to perpetuate unless/until you choose to lie. And if you choose to lie, you are lying until you choose to tell the truth...
You know, in this case... it really felt like Drew Clinton was relatively truthful about how he did commit the digital penetration count for which Judge Adrian found him guilty. And Judge Adrian wad truthful about how he understood Illinois law, the limits of his jurisdiction, that he wanted his own authority to be greater than the authority of the appellate court, and that there was a sentence that would be just for "what happened here." But, he lied when he changed the verdict to not guilty. He lied against his own judgement; he did acknowledge Clinton was guilty, but he just didn't agree with Illinois law. And he wasn't wrong and then it was over. He began being wrong, and he still is. Andrew Schnack III and Casey Schnack said a lot of things out in public, on social media, at the Kelly's Tavern bar on 36th & Broadway... that they never had any business saying. And unless/until they give the Vaughan family the apology those people deserve, they are actively choosing to continue to lie as well.
It's not, that happened and now it's over. It's, that happened and these people have actively chosen to *continue* to make the wrong decision, every day, every moment, even now.
You have noticed, we have asserted victory. And the explanation for that has been made, but in short, it's because we chose the side of truth. And, you may have noticed we are shifting focus away from the specific young woman who prompted this communal movement. That is at the behest of this brave soul, that she can grow into her own identity without this obvious trauma being too large a part of her psyche - that's healthy and we are so proud to honor whatever is good for her personal / spiritual / life journey.
But... don't think we've forgotten.
We are making moves even now,
and we truly will be posting updates when the time comes that it's appropriate to do so.
Quincy gets ready for the Color Run and the Dogwood Festival Parade. We go to baseball games and start hunting for morels. The honest people in our town continue to be honest. And those who have chosen to perpetuate lies... you should know in your hearts that you've chosen wrong. May that haunt you.
Glory and victory to all survivors,
and those in the wrong -
please do not for one second forget,
we see you.
